This half-day learning experience immerses girls ages 11-14 in exciting science, technology, engineering, arts, and math workshops, guided by Amazon’s ambassadors. STEM Campers develop essential future-ready skills like leadership, communication, teamwork, and creative problem-solving through interactive challenges and team building activities. Camp STEM enables curious minds to gain confidence in STEM subjects, fuelling the next generation of female innovators.

Our First-ever STEM Camp in Gilroy, California
Amazon Girls’ Tech Series collaborated with Gilroy Unified School District in August 2024, to unite a group of over 115 sixth graders. The mission was simple - inspire, motivate and educate girls who all have the potential to do amazing things in the world, and enable them to explore their opportunities in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and math.
This half-day event took place at South Valley Middle School and was packed with STEM inspired workshops, as well as the opportunity for students from different schools to meet for the first time. Camp STEM attendees collaborated with their like-minded fellow campers, explored new concepts and innovation, developed their problem solving skills and fuelled their passion for future learning in STEM fields - all while having a ton of fun!

Highlights from Camp STEM!
Amazon Girls’ Tech Series’ Camp STEM united bright young female builders in an inclusive environment to collaborate on real-world STEM challenges.
The core of Camp STEM is to provide immersive, hands-on workshops to ignite young innovators’ future-thinking abilities. This was achieved through activities like programming robots, coding, and engineering challenges. Whilst nature and the arts were explored through crafting, learning about the biology of animals and hanging out at the Camp STEM petting zoo. Honoring Gilroy’s garlic heritage, each camper left with a DIY science kit to further investigate the complexities of garlic science.

Science - Cotton Candy Making
Explore the states of matter with mini cotton candy machines and tap into mind-bending creativity by designing and sculpting the cotton candy into imaginative new shapes.

Technology - Light Up Card
Students consider what excites them most about the school year to come and bring their vision to life with a light-up card intelligently crafted through circuity and LED technology.

Engineering - Self Stopping Robot
An exciting challenge awaits: design and build self-stopping robots, apply circuitry skills and explore AI to perfect autonomous braking mechanisms.

Art - Fluid Art
Getting truly hands-on, students craft their own fluid art pieces, experiment with color combinations and pouring techniques to create unique and vibrant designs.

Mathematics - Scavenger Hunt
Travel on an exciting mathematical adventure, using critical thinking to solve problems, navigate a dynamic graph map, and uncover a thrilling clue at the end.

Yard Games - Where’s My Stuff
Students learn in groups to operate as a ‘data center’ - managing data whilst maintaining an unbroken ‘data link’. They face growing challenges, and the possibility of elimination if they lose any data or break the link.
